Site Surveying (QSB 1813)

Site Surveying is a very interesting unit after I know what actually site surveying is. Site surveying is a unit that relates to land surveying. Surveying is the act and science of measuring angle distance and position on/near the surface of the earth. Firstly, I felt like site surveying is really boring until we had our first fieldwork. A major eye opener was the fieldwork. I got to see with my own eyes the behind- the-scenes when it comes to setting up the automatic level, leveling staff and tripod. Although it was confusing at first, after looking back at my notes, it all falls into place. On the second fieldwork I am able to set up all the instruments. From the site surveying, I am able to use operate automatic level and theodolite and know about the overview of surveying and understand of leveling & traverse surveying theory and practice. From the fieldwork, I realized that to collect data under the sun is really hard. We should respect those people who usually have to work and collecting data at the road side. During the fieldwork, Mr Wong taught us the way to use the automatic level, the way to read and collect the data. From the midterm test, I am able to practice and workout everything that I had learns in the class.
